2008 Porsche Boxster S Shared Ownership in Scotland

2008 Porsche Boxster S

Porsche had for a long time been looking for a way out from the terrible handling consequences of having the engine behind the rear axle. Many of their efforts had led eventually to quite decent cars, such as the 944 Turbo which had evolved from the 924.

But in 1996, they really got it right, and in the process probably saved the company. Water-cooling a 2.5 litre flat-6 boxer engine and relocating it ahead of the rear axle resulted in a roadster with near-optimal weight distribution, and the Boxster was born. The car was well received, and in 2000 the more sporting Boxster S was introduced, with a 3.2 litre engine.

Our Boxster is one of the second generation (987), which was introduced in 2005, and being an 'S', it has the larger 3.4 litre engine which made its debut in in 2007.

Few cars come close to matching the performance and handling of the Boxster S. The car of choice for many for exploring the Highlands of Scotland, it has the practical advantage of a powered hood which can be raised in seconds in the not-so-unlikely event of rain!
